It’s frustrating, especially because I feel like sometimes the doctors here are usually not even aware of the resources on the mainland, so that they can’t even connect you.
When you were formally diagnosed, what happened next?
It truthfully wasn’t much different than before. We were at all times cautious to maintain our health and take a look at to learn what we could online and stuff, in order that didn’t really change much. Dr. Tarnopolsky really helped us with some vitamins that he recommends for patients, and educating us on what we are able to do to maintain our health, like exercise and weight loss program.
I, thankfully, haven’t had any major health problems or anything that I do know of related to my mitochondrial disease.
Jodi’s mother was out and in of the hospital for over a yr attempting to work out what was mistaken before being diagnosed with mitochondrial disease. GETTY
While you say weight loss program, exercise and supplements, what types of things are you referring to?
Mitochondrial health is super necessary and exercise is one thing that’s really good to your mitochondria. So just about just attempting to stay energetic doing each aerobic exercises and resistance training just to remain healthy overall.
With weight loss program, eating proteins, healthy carbs, veggies, fruit, all of the stuff that is nice for everybody. For vitamins, I’m superb without them, but [you can take] a Mito cocktail*, which is bunch of things which might be good for mitochondrial health.
